Peak 4×4 Response
Operations usually undertaken include the transportation of key workers and care staff, helping to keep vital services running in less than ideal conditions. We also collect and deliver urgent food and medical supplies to remote communities that would otherwise be cut off by winter weather.
We have helped utility companies distribute supplies to households when mains services have failed, and our members have assisted many stranded motorists in the course of our operations, helping to keep roads passable for everyone.
Beyond weather-related deployments, we provide logistical support at events and traction assistance where vehicles need help on difficult ground or in poor conditions.
All of our responders are volunteers who use their own suitably equipped 4×4 vehicles. Every responder holds a current DBS check, has at least two years’ driving experience, operates a vehicle with approved livery and lighting, and takes part in regular appraisals and training to remain active on duties. Volunteers are called out through a dedicated system so that we can quickly match available drivers to requests for help.
We work alongside the NHS, care providers, local authorities, utility companies and other voluntary organisations. Our role is to provide reliable logistical support so that partner agencies can continue to deliver their services when conditions make that difficult.
